100+ credit union employees gathered to launch Let’s CUshine! Employee Resource Group & Watch Drag Show with CUDE Educator Madam Nymphadora

CUANM’s CUshine is the country's first statewide credit union employee resource group for LGBTQ+/allies.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 22, 2022) — In mid-April, the Credit Union Association of New Mexico hosted “Let’s CUshine!” an event to launch the country’s first statewide credit union employee resource group for LGBTQ+/allies.

“We are committed to advancing diversity opportunities in the workplace so that EVERYONE feels that they belong,” said Juan E. Fernández Ceballos, President & CEO of the Credit Union Association of New Mexico. “Our Flickr photo album shows just how many credit union community members want to promote awareness and inclusion. It was a fantastic gathering for NM credit union professionals, and we look forward to future events and initiatives from this new employee resource group.”

Let’s CUshine was hosted at the Albuquerque Social Club and led by credit union drag queen Madam Nymphadora. Attendees were entertained by fan-favorites Defying Gravity and RESPECT, followed by a panel discussion with both local and national credit union leaders. The event also helped raise funds for CasaQ, a non-profit dedicated to supporting queer youth who are experiencing homelessness.

Discussion panelists included: Zachary Christensen, CUDE, Co-founder & Executive Director of CU Pride; Cody Lewis, Chief Administrative Officer with Jemez Valley Credit Union; Daniel Marquez, CUDE/ Madam Nymphadora; and Maggie Tannen, SHRM-SCP, CUDE, VP of Human Resources & Training at US Eagle Federal Credit Union.

Event sponsors: CUNA Mutual Group, CUPride, First Financial CU, US Eagle Federal CU, and your marketing co.
