$300,000 granted to nonprofits through 2022 Numerica Charitable Fund

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA (May 23, 2022) — Funding 24 regional nonprofits, Numerica Credit Union distributed more than $300,000 through the 2022 Numerica Charitable Fund. This annual grant is awarded to organizations that foster education, support women and children and work to end hunger and homelessness.

Numerica team members surprised the nonprofits in early May with customized retro viewfinders containing a slide announcing how much they received. Representatives from selected organizations said the funds would be used for outreach events, transportation, stable housing and food banks.

“We’re grateful to Numerica Credit Union for their continued support of our work and this generous gift,” said Suzanne Suyama, Community-Minded Enterprises director of early learning. “It means we can continue to lift up child care providers and strengthen these important community businesses. Thank you Numerica for making community a verb.”

The Numerica Charitable Fund is funded by Numerica members through Skip a Pay, a voluntary program available on certain qualified loans. Members are allowed to bypass a monthly loan payment once every six months for a $30 fee, which is contributed to the fund to support community nonprofits.

“Numerica is proud to support organizations that show up for our most vulnerable community members when times are tough,” said Carla Cicero, Numerica president and CEO. “This annual grant program is just another way we show our commitment to enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams and building communities.”

The 10 Spokane Numerica Charitable Fund nonprofits include:

  • Community-Minded Enterprises
  • Family Promise of Spokane
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Spokane Eastside Reunion Association
  • Spokane Police Foundation
  • SNAP Resource Rides
  • The Big Table
  • Transitions
  • Vanessa Behan
  • Women & Children’s Free Restaurant & Community Kitchen
