ABNB offers bear hugs during the holidays
CHESAPEAKE, VA (January 27, 2018) — Throughout the holiday season, ABNB hosted its fourth annual “Bear Hug” fundraiser to benefit EDMARC Children’s Hospice of Portsmouth, Virginia, a local non-profit organization. ABNB employees adopted stuffed teddy bears, dressed and donated them to EDMARC families. ABNB staff raffled numerous bears to members and staff for a monetary donation which went directly to EDMARC Children’s Hospice.
During the months of November through December, ABNB employees and members raised more than $800 and donated over 60 decorated teddy bears. No two bears were alike. This year, bears were dressed as super heroes, fairies, and even Belle and the Beast! EDMARC’s mission is to, “ease the trauma of a child’s illness or death, and to reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss, and bereavement on families in the Hampton Roads area.”
“ABNB has always believed and lived the Credit Union moto of ‘People Helping People.’ I can’t think of anything better than giving to children through EDMARC Hospice for Children,” said Tony Duncan, ABNB Vice President of Finance. Debbie Stitzer-Brame, Executive Director for EDMARC added, “These gentle bears have a small, adorable appearance that holds tremendous power and effectiveness, proving that great blessings can come in small packages.”
