Advance financial awards scholarship to Hanover Central High School student

Nicholas Anthony Kolanowski Receives $1,500 College Scholarship

EAST CHICAGO, IN (May 25, 2022) — Advance Financial Federal Credit Union (AFFCU) believes in the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” and recently demonstrated that belief as it awarded a $1,500 college scholarship to Nicholas Anthony Kolanowski. Nicholas was chosen as this year’s recipient from a list of several highly qualified candidates.

Nicholas was recently recognized at AFFCU’s 84th Annual Meeting by Chairperson Janice Vamos for his academic and community accomplishments. “Nicholas is a well-rounded student who has not only achieved a stellar academic record, but devotes time to community and church functions such as building food pantries and assisting the elderly and handicapped,” commented Vamos. She added, “he is an individual who we believe will make an impact on our world and we are pleased to give him financial assistance to help him on his journey.”

Nicholas, an AFFCU Teen Club member, is an avid tennis player and Boy Scout. He plans to attend Trine University in Angola, IN this fall where he will pursue a degree in electrical engineering.
