Altura Staffers Open Imaginations As Part of ‘Read Across America Day’

RIVERSIDE, CA (March 29, 2013) – Eleven Altura Credit Union employees, including CEO Mark Hawkins, read to children at schools in Riverside County recently as part of Read Across America Day, a national literacy program designed to spur children to read more.  Read Across America Day is celebrated every year close to the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Suess.

The event was created by the National Education Association in 1997 to celebrate, promote and generate enthusiasm for reading as well as spark imaginations. Parents and volunteers, like those from Altura, read to children of all ages around the country at schools, libraries and community centers as part of the national event.

Altura’s volunteers this year visited classrooms at schools in the Riverside, Moreno Valley and the Alford Unified School Districts.
