American 1 Credit Union donates $50,000 to support revitalization of The Cascades in Jackson County

American 1 Credit Union is proud to announce a $50,000  contribution to support the revitalization of The Cascades, a historic and iconic landmark  located in Jackson County’s Sparks Foundation Park. This donation reflects American 1’s  ongoing commitment to enhancing community spaces and preserving local heritage. 

“American 1 is proud to help preserve spaces like The Cascades, honoring our long standing legacies in Jackson while investing in the future of our community,” said Martha  Fuerstenau, President and CEO of American 1 Credit Union. “As we celebrate our 75th  anniversary this year, we’re proud to support this revitalization effort and help ensure this  beloved landmark continues to inspire and connect generations to come.”  

Opening in 1932, The Cascades features a 500-foot illuminated, manufactured waterfall  with six fountains and 16 falls, flowing at 2,000 gallons per minute. The site has long served  as a gathering place for concerts, celebrations, and educational field trips. Jackson County 

Parks officials are leading efforts to restore and modernize the structure while preserving  its historical significance. 

“We greatly appreciate American 1 Credit Union’s commitment to the community,” said  Kyle Lewis, Director of Jackson County Parks. “American 1 Credit Union’s support gets us  further to our goal of ensuring that the Cascades will be around for generations to come.” 

The donation will help fund structural improvements, lighting upgrades, and enhanced  visitor experiences. Community members can also contribute to the project through the  Jackson Community Foundation, which manages donations on behalf of the county.
