American Heart Association and “Where In The World Are You Walking?” sponsor PSECU invite community to participate in final days of Heart Walk Digital Experience

HARRISBURG, PA (September 24, 2020) — Less than a week remains for community members to participate in the 2020 American Heart Association Heart Walk Digital Experience events in the Erie, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Lehigh Valley areas. To help raise awareness, “Where In The World Are You Walking?” sponsor, Pennsylvania’s anytime, anywhere digital credit union, PSECU, is encouraging walkers to take photos of themselves on their self-selected routes and post them to social media using hashtags corresponding to their local American Heart Association chapter. Held from September 1 through 30, the virtual Heart Walks are part of the American Heart Association’s premier fundraising campaign for the fight against heart disease and stroke – the nation’s number one and five killers, respectively.

“The mission of the American Heart Association is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. That change starts by empowering people in our communities to take charge of their health and be a positive influence on their co-workers, family, and friends,” said American Heart Association Regional Vice President of Development Ashley Schade. “We thank PSECU for working with us to create a fun and engaging ‘Where In The World Are You Walking?’ campaign that allows for our walkers to be healthy social media influencers while also highlighting the flexibility of this year’s virtual walk format.”

PSECU has supported the American Heart Association for several years. In addition to sponsorship of Heart Walk events across the commonwealth, the credit union annually supports Go Red for Women activities in Altoona, Bethlehem, and Camp Hill. PSECU also encourages its more than 900 statewide employees to raise funds for the American Heart Association.

“As an advocate for the health and vitality of the communities we serve, PSECU sponsors annual Heart Walks and other American Heart Association events and initiatives across the state,” said the credit union’s President and CEO George Rudolph. “On behalf of our more than 475,000 members, we’re excited to be a part of this year’s digital movement to increase awareness of heart disease and stroke, honor and celebrate survivors, and raise money for research that can develop lifesaving breakthroughs.”

The PSECU-sponsored American Heart Association Heart Walk events throughout Pennsylvania are listed in alphabetical order below with their corresponding “Where In The World Are You Walking” hashtags. Each virtual walk will remain open through September 30. Additional event information, including registration details, are available at the links provided.

PSECU also sponsored the Northeast PA Heart Walk, which was held on May 16.

“We encourage everyone to embrace the American Heart Association Heart Walk cause,” Rudolph added. “Where are you Heart Walking? There are so many places your Heart Walk can take you across Pennsylvania this September. Visit a local park, walk across town, or just stroll around your neighborhood.
