American Heritage Credit Union commits $100,000 to Jefferson Health’s Nurse’s Scholarship Program
PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 9, 2018) — American Heritage Credit Union (American Heritage) committed $100,000 to Jefferson Health’s Nurse’s Scholarship Program on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. The donation will be used to help support nurses who are continuing their education.
American Heritage President & CEO, Bruce K. Foulke, and Vice President of Business Development, Dorian Smith, presented the donated to Jefferson Health’s Steven G. Littleson, Regional President, Michelle Conley, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer, Lara Goldstein, Assistant Vice President for Development, Carly Kearney MSN, RN, Jeffrey Joseph MSN, RN, and Julia Monaco BSN, RN.
“Many nurses are working parents and are hesitant to spend money on their own education, as they have children for whom they are paying high school/college,” states Michelle Conley.
“From a recent report from The Institute of Medicine Report: ‘The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health’ has stipulated that 80% of the nursing workforce should have at least a BSN degree by 2020. That said it is imperative they attain at least a BSN degree. A few years ago, we began to raise money to help those nurses with the tuition burden of attaining an advanced degree. We have done fundraisers and looked for generous benefactors who value nurses and the incredible work they do to ensure quality, safe and compassionate care.”
“Nurses play a critical role in our communities’ health care systems and its vital that these positions are staffed with well-prepared professionals,” states Bruce K. Foulke. “We are excited to partner with Jefferson Health and help the organization prepare future nursing professionals for our communities.”
