ATMIA publishes paper to mitigate risk on ATM jackpotting
SIOUX FALLS, SD (March 1, 2018) — ATMIA today published a paper for its members on defending against ATM jackpotting.
“These kinds of attacks, however sophisticated, are not insurmountable problems for our industry,” commented Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA. “Our members can reduce the risk of jackpotting dramatically by implementing best practices recommended in our new paper.”
The new publication, Defending against Jackpotting, which was compiled by the world’s leading ATM security consultant, Douglas Russell, with inputs from law enforcement agencies and members, also recommends forming close ties with law enforcement agencies to share information and best practices. The manual describes a variety of attacks which can lead to jackpotting and then recommends the risk mitigation measures required to stifle and block the criminals.
“As threats evolve with changing technology,” Lee stated, “so our industry needs to invest in security solutions and security resources. In the end, an investment in security is an premium paid towards preserving customer trust in the channel for years to come.”
