ATMIA renames Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of Mike Lee

SIOUX FALLS, SD (May 26, 2022) — The ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) today announces the Executive Board has voted to rename the highly sought after ATMIA Lifetime Achievement Award to the “Michael Lee Lifetime Achievement Award.” The name change is in honor of outgoing ATMIA CEO, Mike Lee, recognizing his decades of commitment and dedication to the worldwide ATM industry.

At the onset of Lee’s tenure as CEO of the organization, there were under 100 members but a great deal of ambition. During his time with ATMIA, the association has grown exponentially and been instrumental to the global ATM industry in advocacy, networking, education, best practices and industry innovation.

“Mike invested a good part of his life into our industry, and into many of us personally,” said Tom Harper, Founding Director of ATMIA and publisher of ATMmarketplace.com. “The renamed award is a fitting reminder of the significant impact he made on an entire global market for over two decades.”

“We felt it was appropriate to recognize Mike’s leadership, commitment and results,” said Chris Chandler, ATMIA President and CEO of Perativ. The ATMIA Board of Directors unanimously and enthusiastically voted to rename the award.

“The industry has grown and accomplished much in the past 25 years,” said Carlos Siewczynski, Deputy President for ATMIA and Coinsource Executive Vice President of Business Development. “A large part of that achievement has been due to the leadership of ATMIA with Mike at its helm.”

“Mike has been instrumental in championing technological development in the ATM industry,” said Peter Kulik, Chairman for ATMIA and Vice President of Technology for FCTI, Inc. “His leadership has helped bring about real innovation and the retitling of this award serves as a reminder of his long-lasting contributions.”

This announcement comes as Lee prepares to officially leave the association to pursue his growing writing and artistic career. The new “Michael Lee Lifetime Achievement Award” will make its debut at the February 2023 US ATMIA Conference in New Orleans.

“Mike is a very special, caring person and has been a great leader. Through his leadership and guidance, we have weathered some very difficult times, especially COVID in 2020,” Sandra Hartfield-Papie, CEO of Monex and ATMIA’s Finance Officer. “We are an even stronger association because of Mike and changing the name of the Lifetime Achievement Award is so appropriate.”

“It has been a pleasure having Mike as a friend and colleague. I will miss him and his smile,” Hartfield-Papie continues. “Have wonderful new adventures, Mike. You will not be forgotten.”
