BECU to grow puget sound presence with new Financial Center in Gig Harbor

Credit union to open Neighborhood Financial Center in the Maritime City in 2019

SEATTLE, WA (June 19, 2018)BECU, Washington’s largest community credit union, announced today it will open a Neighborhood Financial Center later next year in Gig Harbor, Wash. This will be the first financial center for the Maritime City, serving more than 4,000 members who live in the area.

At more than 2,800 square-feet, the Neighborhood Financial Center will be located at the Village at Harbor Hill, near Harbor Hill Road and Borgen Boulevard, and will join BECU locations in Tacoma, Bonney Lake, Puyallup and University Place, as well as Silverdale, to better serve BECU members in Pierce and Kitsap counties.

Consistent with BECU’s other Neighborhood Financial Centers, the Gig Harbor location will feature a “tellerless” layout, which empowers members to access their accounts in the ways most convenient for them, including ATMs, online banking and mobile banking.  Member consultants will be available to assist with these transactions, and provide one-on-one support for opening accounts and more complex services, such as mortgages, personal loans, auto loans, business services and more.

Commitment to Financial Health
As a member-owned financial cooperative, BECU is committed to helping the members and communities it serves achieve their financial goals. Last year, the credit union’s significant growth fueled increased investments into the financial health of its members and communities, returning nearly $187 million ($179 per member) to its members in the form of better rates and lower fees, and more than $5 million to its communities in cash and in-kind donations.
