Bethpage Federal Credit Union named Top Long Island Workplace

Newsday Poll Names Bethpage the Top Large Employer on Long Island with an Engaging Workplace Culture, Strong Employee Benefits, and Commitment to Community and Work-Life Balance

BETHPAGE, NY (November 1, 2018) — Bethpage Federal Credit Union ranked as the Top Long Island Workplace for 2018 in a recent Newsday poll, and was also given the  “Clued in Senior Management Award,” recognizing how senior managers understand what is really happening at Bethpage.

Newsday, Long Island’s top daily newspaper, had Energage, a consulting and research firm, anonymously poll more than 24,000 employees at 116 Long Island employers.  They questioned employees on their salary, benefits, company leadership, and overall workplace culture.

Results of the poll show that Bethpage Federal Credit Union ranks extremely high in workplace engagement.  Bethpage employees are invited to join various clubs, including bowling, softball, basketball, reading and running clubs. Employees also noted Bethpage’s culture of fostering a strong work-life balance, including the ability to work from home as needed.

Through its Bethpage Cares program, employees have the opportunity to participate in various community and charitable events and programs, including the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, and the annual Bethpage Turkey Drive benefitting Island Harvest that yearly collects approximately 2,000 turkeys and 9,000 pounds of nonperishable food at its headquarters to help thousands of families enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

Bethpage also has a “Bright Ideas” portal, inviting employees to submit an idea for top executives to read and evaluate.  One employee’s bright idea this year was to host a pet adoption and food drive this past June where every dog there was either adopted or subsequently fostered by staffers, and 674 pounds of pet food was collected and donated to Island Harvest.

“Our employees are our most important resource, and we’re delighted to hear their positive feedback in this survey,” said Melissa Feeney, VP of HR/Learning, Bethpage Federal Credit Union.  “As a credit union, we operate knowing ‘We Care About What You Care About’ isn’t just a promise we make to our members, but to our employees as well. We’re focused on providing the best service possible to our members, and that wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support of our 688 employees.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their ongoing part in our success.”

Bethpage offers a robust benefits package to help attract and retain employees, including a 401(k) plan in which an employee’s first 3 percent contribution earns a 200 percent match, and the next four percent gets a 100 percent match from Bethpage. Bethpage also offers tuition, gym and weight-loss program reimbursement, as well as a free vacation day per year added on to whatever accrued time an employee has earned.

Bethpage conducts two employee opinion surveys annually to ensure all staff are satisfied, and adds and/or alters employee programs to better meet evolving needs. As of 2018, Bethpage had nine percent of employees celebrate five years with the company, 30 employees reach ten years, and 16 with 25+ years at Bethpage.
