Building a Stronger Community: Connex Credit Union Volunteers and Donates to Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven
Credit Union donates $1,000 and provides staff and family members to help build new home
NEW HAVEN, CT (July 1, 2013) — Connex Credit Union recently sent a team of employees and family members armed with goodwill and enthusiasm to participate in a home build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven. The event took place on Saturday June 22 at a home on Congress Avenue in New Haven. Connex also supported the build with a $1,000 donation.
“Giving back to the community is an integral part of our business and philosophy at Connex,” said Frank Mancini, CEO of Connex Credit Union. “Thanks to our wonderful employees who took the time to pitch in and support a great cause. The New Haven area is not only home to Connex, but it’s also home to most of our staff. I am proud of our team and what we’ve accomplished.”
The Connex team consisted of eight employees and two family members. They were divided into groups to handle different tasks such as building a deck, interior wall building and outside work. Among the volunteering staff members were Frank Mancini, CEO of Connex Credit Union, senior leadership and branch employees.
Founded in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing through the creation of homeownership opportunities for low-income working families. Habitat builds and rehabilitates homes in the Greater New Haven area with the goal of creating safe, decent, affordable houses that add to the revitalization of New Haven’s neighborhoods.
