Capital Credit Union announces scholarship recipients 

BISMARCK, MD (March 4, 2026) |

Capital Credit Union is pleased to announce the ten recipients of its Howard J. Snortland  Scholarship Program. Each recipient will receive $1,500 to assist them in achieving their higher education goals. 

  • Aubrey Feil, Beulah, is a senior at Beulah High School. She plans to pursue a degree in speech-language  pathology. 
  • Bailey Maier, New Salem, is a senior at New Salem - Almont High School. She plans to attend the University  of Mary to pursue a degree in biology. 
  • Carter Michlitsch, Bismarck, is a senior at St. Mary’s Central High School. He plans to attend the University  of Jamestown to pursue a degree in civil engineering. 
  • Jasmine Wong, Bismarck, is a senior at Century High School. She plans to pursue a degree in biology.
  • Kael Newman, Beulah, is a senior at Beulah High School. He plans to attend Lynnes Welding Training and pursue a career in welding. 
  • Karter Hatzenbuhler, Mandan, is attending the University of North Dakota, pursuing a degree in  biochemistry. 
  • Madalyn Meckle, Bismarck, is a senior at Legacy High School. She plans to attend the University of Mary  to pursue a degree in biology. 
  • Olivia Gartner, Stanton, is a senior at Hazen High School. She plans to attend the University of Mary to  pursue a degree in nursing. 
  • Parker Feigitsch, Bismarck, is a senior at Century High School. He plans to attend the South Dakota School  of Mines and Technology to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. 
  • Tyler Ripplinger, Bismarck, is a senior at St. Mary’s Central High School. He plans to attend the University  of Mary to pursue a degree in biology. 

The scholarship is named in honor of Howard J. Snortland and his 60 years of volunteer service to Capital Credit  Union. Snortland was instrumental in helping the credit union grow from its humble roots to the thriving financial  cooperative it is today. Since the scholarship was established in 1996, Capital Credit Union has awarded $200,500  to 186 students.
