Coastal Credit Union Foundation COVID-19 relief funding now exceeds $1 million

RALEIGH, NC (June 9, 2020) — The Coastal Credit Union Foundation has announced that it will provide an additional $300,000 in grants that will be used to provide community assistance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Including previously-announced grants, the foundation’s COVID-19 response to date now totals more than $1,000,000.

The latest package includes a $50,000 grant to the Wake Tech Foundation’s Completion Scholarships program, which aims to help well-performing students for whom financial concerns are the only remaining barrier to finishing their education. As students are feeling the economic impacts of COVID-19, financial hardships are a growing cause for students falling short of earning a degree.

The remaining $250,000 are unrestricted grants, supporting the following local nonprofits:

  • Activate Good
  • CASA
  • Dorothy Mae Hall Women’s Center
  • Families Moving Forward
  • InterAct
  • Salvation Army of Wake County
  • Southeast Raleigh Promise
  • WakeMed Foundation

Coastal’s Foundation has provided grants to organizations that reach all of the 16 counties that Coastal Credit Union serves. The Foundation has been selecting local organizations based on their capability of immediately putting funds to work in the communities the credit union serves, to help people who have been affected by the various impacts of COVID-19.
