Community Resource Federal Credit Union Helps Kids Get Ready for School with School Supply Donation

ALBANY, NY (September 4, 2013) — For the past three years, Community Resource Federal Credit Union’s employees have donated school supplies to fill backpacks for children who participate in a summer program run by Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH). This year, the Credit Union filled 75 backpacks.

“This community service project is a true labor of love for our employees, said Wendy Meola, Director of Marketing at Community Resource FCU. “Led by our CEO, Betsy Kindlon, employees shop year-round to find the best deals on school supplies so they can purchase as much as possible for the kids,” she added.

IPH’s Summer Youth Program incorporates a daily craft project and a free, nutritious lunch weekdays from the end of June through mid-August. IPH started the program seven years ago and this summer it served 1,796 lunches to more 986 children. Northeast Regional Food Bank supplies the lunches.

“The dedication and time that Community Resource takes to make this a special day for the kids is amazing and the IPH team is so appreciative of community partners who are as passionate as Community Resource’s employees,” said Jamie Stacy, Youth Program Coordinator at Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless.
