The HUECU Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Craig Leonard as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Harvard University Employees Credit Union effective July 18, 2020. Craig will succeed Gene Foley, who has served as President and CEO for the past 25 years and will retire July 17, 2020.
The Search Committee of the Board conducted an extensive nationwide search to fill the role. Craig’s 30 years of strong and successful banking experience and thorough understanding of the Harvard Community made him the ideal candidate. Craig has been a leader at HUECU for ten years in the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. In that time, HUECU has experienced phenomenal growth and been among the best performing credit unions nationally.
Craig graduated from Bentley University with a degree in Finance. He was one of the youngest bank treasurers in the State of Massachusetts, was the Vice President & Controller for the largest community chartered credit union in New England, and helped run the third-largest credit union in the state of Rhode Island before joining the HUECU in 2010 as its Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer.
"I am excited and honored to be leading such an exceptional organization. We have a dynamic and diverse team that's focused on the needs of our members and always working to improve itself. I look forward to partnering with the Credit Union's Board and team members as we continue to enhance HUECU's culture and build upon our success." - Craig Leonard
The HUECU Board and employees look forward to Craig’s leadership as CEO of HUECU. Craig’s focus will continue to be on supporting the Credit Union’s members in achieving their financial goals. “Craig is a strong and thoughtful team-focused leader, a prudent and forward-looking financial manager, and strives always to achieve the HUECU mission.” - George White, HUECU Board Chairman
