Credit union receives Top Place to Work nod for fourth year in a row

Generations FCU singled out by employees for direction of the company and overall job satisfaction.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 29, 2013) — The staff of Generations Federal Credit Union has again named the company as one of the city’s top workplaces according to a San Antonio Express-News/ Workplace Dynamics survey. This is the fourth year in a row that GFCU has been named to the Top Workplaces list. Winners were chosen based on the results of confidential online surveys completed by the companies’ employees on a variety of attributes such as confidence in management, direction of the company, feeling valued and overall job satisfaction.

The award, currently in its fifth year, honors companies in the greater San Antonio area. Companies were divided into three categories (large, medium and small) based on the number of employees, and more than 27,000 local employees from 124 companies completed the survey. Generations ranked 20 among medium-size companies (150 to 499 employees).

“The senior leadership team at Generations works very hard to create an environment that is fun, challenging and collaborative,” said Steve Schipull, president and CEO of Generations. “Anyone can have a job, but we want our company to be a place where staff look forward to coming in every day and making a difference in the lives of our members.”

Generations Federal Credit Union was founded in 1940 and has a rich history of serving everyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Bexar County with its People Helping People approach. The credit union has been recognized locally, regionally and nationally for innovative, award-winning services that reach out to everyone in the community as they work toward their financial goals. In March 2013, the credit union was named as the recipient of the National Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award for its “No Suckers Here” program that annually reaches more than 3,000 local students teaching lessons of fiscal responsibility.

The full list of companies recognized as a top place to work appeared in the October 27, 2013 issue of the San Antonio Express-News.
