Credit Union Student Choice ready for fifth annual “Empower U” conference

Credit Union Student Choice, the leading provider of higher education financing solutions to America’s credit unions, will host the fifth installment of its highly rated Empower U conference Sept. 25-26, 2019, at the Omni Parker House in Boston. The first and only learning event in the credit union space dedicated to education finance, Empower U returns to Boston for the first time since the inaugural event.

“In 2015, Student Choice had a vision of bringing together credit union leaders to help them better understand the world of education finance and learn how to build deeper connections with the next generation of members,” said Michael Weber, Chief Marketing Officer for Credit Union Student Choice. “Over the past five years we’ve grown this exciting event to include two days of powerful content, delivered by top-notch speakers, that will benefit not only a credit union’s student lending program, but their business as a whole.”

This year’s event kicks off Sept. 25 with client workshops led by industry experts on topics ranging from compliance to marketing to disruptive innovation. Marketing and branding expert Gerry O’Brion will return to deliver an opening keynote presentation, following his highly acclaimed session at Empower U in 2017. The second day on Sept. 26 will feature a diverse line-up of speakers in the areas of neuromarketing, higher education legislation, the current economic outlook, member relationships, and much more. Highlights include:

  • The Shifting Landscape of Higher Education Finance – James Bergeron, National Council of Higher Education Resources
  • Game-Changer: Understanding the Brain to Unlock the Potential of Your Credit Union – Melina Palmer, The Brainy Business
  • Economic Update – Jordan van Rijn, Credit Union National Association
  • Member Relationships: A Closer Look – Elry Armaza, Filene Research Institute

“Experiencing the growth and evolution of Empower U over the past five years has been exciting and very rewarding,” said Jim Holt, Chief Development Officer for Credit Union Student Choice. “This year marks another step forward and we look forward to delivering a terrific event.”
