Credit unions compete at Titletown Showdown to raise over $9,500 in donations for Special Olympics Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE, WI (October 23, 2019) — On Saturday, October 19, credit unions raised money for a great cause, while having fun competing in a flag football tournament benefitting Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes. The Titletown Showdown event was a collaborative effort between Corporate Central Credit Union, Special Olympics Wisconsin, and member credit unions. The event was held at the historic City Stadium in Green Bay, where the Green Bay Packers played from 1925 to 1956.

Capital Credit Union, CoVantage Credit Union, Heartland Credit Union, Health Care Credit Union, Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, N.E.W. Credit Union, Shoreline Credit Union, Simplicity Credit Union, and Corporate Central Credit Union formed flag football teams to compete against one another. The combined team of Shoreline, Health Care, and Corporate Central came in first place taking home the trophy. Second place went to Simplicity and Marshfield Medical Center, and CoVantage came in third. Heartland won best costume and highest fundraising team, and N.E.W. won best sportsmanship and second highest fundraising team. A 50/50 raffle and bucket raffles were also held during the event.

“We are so grateful and proud to be part of a strong community of credit unions that truly understands the power of collaboration and importance of charitable giving,” said Chris Felton, President/CEO of Corporate Central. “We would like to thank all the participants and contributors for their generosity and efforts to make this event a success.”

“We had beautiful weather and a ton of excitement at City Stadium for our Titletown Showdown credit union challenge,” said Sarah Graper, Director of Development and Special Events at Special Olympics Wisconsin. “The credit union participants showed a fun, competitive spirit throughout the day and were a joy to watch and talk with as they gave their all for the bragging rights to be the champions among their peers. The support of the credit unions and their efforts will help impact the lives of our athletes in a variety of ways and we couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with them!” Together with sponsors, Strategic Resource Management (SRM) and All-Sport Trophy and Engraving, credit unions raised over $9,500 to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin.

Shoreline, Health Care, and Corporate Central joined as one team and brought home the first-place trophy.
