Credit Unions converge downtown in 2nd annual Cooperative Career Fair
Following last year’s inaugural success, nine Northwest credit unions converge downtown again to offer fulfilling career opportunities to jobseekers in financial services
PORTLAND, OR (August 28, 2019) — Nine credit unions have collaborated to show that last year’s inaugural event was no fluke. After recruiting employees to the credit union movement through last September’s innovative event, nine CUs are again coming together to offer fulfilling career opportunities to the public at no cost. The theme, once again? “Take this job and LOVE IT!”
Across the street downtown, the Wells Fargo tower redirects visitors around scaffolds, temporary blockades, and porta-Johns as the building undergoes construction to improve its image.
“When our credit union movement grows, what really grows is financial transparency, support for local communities, and social mobility for families working hard for a better life,” said Steve Stapp, Unitus President/CEO.
The nine participating Credit Unions represent a diverse cross-section of organizations small, large, and in-between, with presence across Oregon and Washington. The Credit unions on site include Advantis Credit Union, Clackamas Federal Credit Union, First Tech Federal Credit Union, iQ Credit Union, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Point West Credit Union, Rivermark Community Credit Union, Trailhead Credit Union, and Unitus, the event hosts.
“This event embodies many of the Credit Union Principles, especially concern for community and cooperation,” affirmed Gayle Evans, Chief Human Resources Officer of Unitus. “As credit unions, a core part of our mission is to provide opportunities for people to have a positive impact: Not only can they support their families with competitive pay and generous benefits, they can support their communities and contribute to a greater good at the same time.”
Several organizations adjacent to the credit union movement will also be involved: BankWork$, Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA), and Young Credit Union Professionals (YCUP) will all be in attendance again this year. OnPoint Community Credit Union will sponsor lunches for registered attendees, while Rivermark Community Credit Union and Golsan Scruggs Insurance and Risk Advisory will co-sponsor the live DJ from The Bull.
Those interested are encouraged to learn more and register at the official event page.
