Credit unions flock to CU*South as the solution to their core and back-office support

FAIRHOPE, AL (March 24, 2022) — Before even reaching the halfway mark of their fiscal year, the Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) CU*SOUTH has filled their last available core conversion spot for 2022 – as well as actively recruiting additional team members to support the increase in back-office services requested by their current and new credit unions.

In one month alone, CU*SOUTH signed to their core platform:
• Post Office of Maryland Credit Union (Baltimore, MD)
• Walton County Teachers’ Federal Credit Union (Defuniak Springs, FL)
• Bakersfield City Employees Federal Credit Union (Bakersfield, CA)
“The signing of these three credit unions right away in the beginning of the year exemplifies the strength of partnerships we build from the beginning and how once they secure their budgets, they are ready for us to get to work, converting them to a platform that will be a significantly improved resource and of greater benefit for their staff and members,” says President/Chief Operating Officer Derrick Smith.

“As a small credit union trying to find the right core processing solution for us, it was the almost total integration of services within the core that kept us on the path of going with CU*SOUTH,” states Post Office of Maryland Credit Union CEO, Joseph Amellio. “I will be able to eliminate at least two third party vendors and have their functions provided by CU*SOUTH.”

Amellio continues. “As I looked at other systems, it was apparent to me that the others did not have the same offerings within the core that CU*SOUTH is providing. We are thoroughly convinced that this core processor is at the forefront of what credit unions need and want in a main core system. This system will integrate our credit union to be able to be paperless if we choose, and with e-receipts we may be able to save almost $800 per month in postage costs.”

Following January’s wave, CU*SOUTH has continued to bring on new credit union partnerships with the core signings of FAA Federal Credit Union (Memphis, TN), as well as Alabama Law Enforcement Credit Union (Birmingham, AL) not only for core services, but adding some of CU*SOUTH’s back-office services for Collections and Accounting Support.

“Credit unions are quickly realizing that not only can they have a core that performs the way they need it to – offering the latest technology and ease of use at a price tag they can afford,” Smith explains, “but that they can also have a true partnership with one of their own – a credit union-owned company that understands the variety of challenges and needs any credit union goes through, and rises to those situations by offering additional resources and services so a credit union can not only handle their day-to-day, the can thrive at the same time.”

CU*SOUTH is currently wrapping up the core conversion of Citizens Federal Credit Union (Midland, TX) that will go live with their new core by April 7 providing the Credit Union with an increase in efficiencies, more self-service tools, and lower costs.

As part of the CU*Asterisk network with a community of over 350 credit union partners, CUSO-based CU*SOUTH was founded in July 2006, with a mission to grow credit unions. They do this by delivering an outstanding core software and support experience (CU*BASE), as well as by delivering Collaborative Services with fractional employees to support the credit unions in the CU*Asterisk network with accounting, collections, compliance, IT management and back-office support, and more.
