Credit Unions Pick Up Lunch Tab at Greenwood Restaurant

GREENWOOD, SC (July 23, 2013) — Several credit unions from around the Upstate joined forces today to Unite for Good and Make a Difference once again. The Credit Unions of South Carolina offered a free lunch to the first two dozen people that showed up at Rick’s Uptown Cafeteria in Greenwood, SC.

“This is a follow up from our MADTAG great gas giveaway earlier this year” said Vickie Hastings, CEO of Greenwood Municipal Federal Credit Union, one of over 40 credit unions participating in this event.

MADTAG is a program supported by credit unions all over South Carolina to help Make a Difference in the communities we serve, and prompt others to join us in doing the same” Hastings said. WSSL 100.5fm morning personality Bill Ellis joined the credit unions to help spread the credit union message to those that were the recipients of the surprise free lunch. A recap of the event will be broadcast on the Tuesday July 23rd edition of “Ellis and Bradley in the Morning” on WSSL, with video interviews from the event being posted on the radio station website.

The Credit Unions of South Carolina have launched a Facebook page, encouraging people to submit examples of people who’ve done good deeds for them.   For more information on the MADTAG initiative, visit www.madtag.org. Real time updates are also being provided via twitter @MADTAGSC.
