CUES Director of the Year, Volunteer Hall of Fame Inductees announced

MADISON, WI (September 26, 2013) — The Credit Union Executives Society has named Ronald J. Seaman, board chairman, SAFE Credit Union, North Highlands, Calif., the 2013 CUES Director of the Year. He will be honored at CUES’ Directors Conference, Dec. 8-11, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.

Seaman has been a credit union volunteer for 27 years, and board chairman for the past 15 years. He is active both at the community level and politically on behalf of SAFE. His political advocacy includes efforts at the local, state and national level.

Additionally, he is a regular participating member of the credit union’s ALCO, information technology, and executive committees.

Seaman has served on the California Credit Union League Board, as well as on the Sacramento Valley Chapter Board. The chapter has been awarded the Chapter of the Year Award numerous times during his service. Additionally, Seaman served on a committee that redesigned the chapters and the structure of the league board to improve representation and encourage better member participation.

Four credit union directors will also be honored as inductees into the CUES Volunteer Hall of Fame during the awards ceremony. They are:

– Peter J. Bruno, chairman emeritus, Financial Resources Federal Credit Union, Bridgewater, NJ

– Martin D. Gillis, CCD, board chairman, Windsor Family Credit Union (WFCU), Windsor, Ontario, Canada

– Norman “Terry” Richardson, board chair, Pioneer West Virginia Federal Credit Union, Charleston, WV

– Peter H. Staley, board vice chair, USAlliance Federal Credit Union, Rye, NY

The CUES Director of the Year award recognizes a board member for excellence in credit union volunteerism based on their achievements at the credit union; contributions to other credit unions, credit union organizations and the community; and professional development and education. The CUES Volunteer Hall of Fame award ensures outstanding directors are always remembered by recognizing individuals who have shown dedication to self-development, encouragement of full board development, and providing ideas for the advancement of all credit union boards.
