Cy-Fair FCU adopts Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions’ Global Good Card

Members’ use of the card will support financial inclusion efforts worldwide

MADISON, WI (July 14, 2020)Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) has announced the creation of a new credit card partnership with Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions—the charitable arm of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) – which will provide financial support for WOCCU projects in developing countries worldwide.

Members with the new Global Good Card can generate donations on signature-based transactions over $5 that will directly benefit WOCCU’s efforts to provide financial inclusion to millions globally.

“Credit unions are founded on the principle of ‘people helping people,’ and our members frequently tell us that they choose Cy-Fair FCU as their financial partner, in part, because of what we do to make the world a better place,“ said Cy-Fair FCU President and CEO Cameron Dickey. “Our goal is to bring more awareness and impact to the work of credit unions who aspire to provide low-cost financial inclusion for all.”

Cy-Fair FCU became a partner of the Worldwide Foundation in 2015 by providing financial support for a project to help start not-for-profit financial cooperatives (credit unions) in Cuba. Since then, Cy-Fair FCU and the Worldwide Foundation have worked together on a number of programs including the Busia Compassionate Children’s Home in Kenya, mentoring and information exchange projects with credit unions from around the world, and now through CFFCU’s new Global Good Card.

“Since 2015, Cy-Fair FCU and the Worldwide Foundation have partnered on several key initiatives to help people of modest means worldwide,” said Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions’ Executive Director Mike Reuter. “CFFCU’s adoption of the Global Good Card program is the cumulative result of those activities. It provides sustained support for international credit union development while allowing the World Council to provide success stories to Cy-Fair that resonate with its diverse membership.”

The Global Good Card adds WOCCU to Cy-Fair FCU’s other non-profit beneficiaries who make up its platinum “Day” and “Night” credit card program. The program provides members a unique way to earn rewards for themselves and produce charitable donations from the proceeds of qualified transactions for non-profit organizations with no cost to members. Cardholders are able to select from a list of organizations like the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation, Boys & Girls Country, Boy Scouts, Cy-Hope and, now, the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, where their funds will be directed to support the Do Global Good initiative.
