HOUSTON, TX (October 22, 2019) — Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (Cy-Fair FCU) is excited to announce that Lashe Fleming of André Elementary School, was awarded a 2020 Kia Rio during the Cy-Fair Education Foundation’s (CFEF) annual “Salute to the Stars” gala. The gala honors Cy-Fair Independent School District (CFISD) educators and recognizes the top teachers, para-educators and support personnel from across the district.
CFISD principals selected 95 “Teacher of the Year Honorees” for their outstanding dedication to students and notable work in the district. During the gala, all honorees were entered into Cy-Fair FCU’s New Car Giveaway which awarded Fleming the brand-new Kia Rio.
“It really is such an honor to be recognized for all the time and work we commit to our classrooms and students,” said Lashe Fleming. “But to actually win a brand new car is just an unbelievable way to end an already incredible night. Thank you to Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union for this amazing gift.”
Cy-Fair FCU had the privilege to, once again, participate as this year’s event underwriter as part of their “Community Only Better” initiative – a $500,000, 10-year pledge to Cy-Fair community schools, small businesses, and students that began in 2013.

Proceeds from the gala provide funds as scholarships to qualified students seeking education beyond high school and for innovative staff development programs throughout the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Since its inception, the Salute to the Stars gala has raised over $3 million from ticket sales, sponsorships and auctions.
