Daniel M. Harp of Dort Federal Credit Union Named Professional of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League
FLINT, MI (May 29, 2013) Dort Federal Credit Union proudly announces their Vice President of Lending, Daniel M. Harp, has been named the Michigan Credit Union League Professional of the Year at the League’s Annual Conference & Exhibition held in Detroit, Michigan on May 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2013.
Dan Harp has been with Dort Federal Credit Union for eight years, serving as the Director of the Real Estate Lending, the Director of Lending, and was named the Vice President of Lending in 2009. Under Mr. Harp’s direction, the credit union has grown their real estate portfolio from 32 real estate loans in 2005 to more than 2,000 loans in 2013. During his tenure, Dort Federal Credit Union’s real estate department has been named a top real estate lender in Genesee County for the past four years running.
In addition to Mr. Harp’s successes in building a real estate lending program for the credit union, he has also grown the credit union’s overall lending portfolio from $170 million upon his arrival in 2005 to nearly $331 million today. This doesn’t include the $52 million in mortgage loans the credit union sold to Fannie Mae. Harp credits his ability to grow Dort Federal’s portfolio to the credit union’s Board of Directors, CEO, and members. “Our Board of Directors and CEO understand the mechanics of lending and mandate lending policies that provide consideration and fairness to all borrowers. With the support of the credit union’s leadership, I’ve been able to implement lending practices that extend quality financing opportunities to borrowers all over the credit spectrum,” Harp says. He adds, “the Greater Flint community has been so economically challenged over the past six or seven years that they’ve inspired me to look at lending through different lenses. It’s never one-size fits all. Lending is about finding the right fit for the individual and we’re proud to have a lending program that does just that.”
