DCECU employees raise money to benefit charitable organizations

MIDLAND, MI (September 30, 2013) — Employees at Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union raised more than $1,100 for charitable organizations through their most recent “Jeans Day” fundraisers and bake sales. For each of the one-day fundraisers, which occur throughout the year, participating DCECU employees donate a minimum of $5.00, which entitles them to wear blue jeans, tennis shoes and logoed attire to work that day. In addition to the donations collected, staff members also organize internal bake sales to support their fundraising efforts.

  • Staff members raised $590.00 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which aims to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. No child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
  • Staff members raised $558.50 for breast cancer research initiatives of the American Cancer Society, which works to save lives and create a world with less cancer. The society and its supporters work together to help people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back against cancer.

“At DCECU, we feel it is important to give back to our members and our community year-round,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “We regularly promote fundraisers to help support nonprofit organizations that assist those in need. DCECU employees serve more than just our credit union members; they also serve our community members.”

In addition to its charitable fundraising, the credit union also has raised $590.00 to support the Michigan Credit Union League Legislative Action Fund (MCULLAF), which provides opportunities for individuals to contribute to candidates for federal office who support the principles of the credit union industry.
