DigitalMailer’s My Virtual StrongBox Attracting Attention of Big FIs

HERNDON, VA – Launched in April of last year and featured on stage at FinovateFall 2012, DigitalMailer\’s My Virtual StrongBox is turning heads at some of the largest financial institutions in the country.

Among those that have implemented the program: $2.4 billion Northwest Federal Credit Union in Herndon, Va.; $4.5 billion Digital Federal Credit Union in Marlborough, Mass.; $3.5 Billion Redstone FCU in Huntsville, Al; and $800 million USAlliance Federal Credit Union in Rye, N.Y.

Combined, all credit unions offering My Virtual Strong Box has lined up close to 1 million potential users of the service coast to coast. With participating institutions at different stages of implementation, about 30,000 consumers are currently active users.

My Virtual StrongBox, a Software-as-a-Service, is designed to help consumers safeguard important documents such as wills, insurance papers, family photographs and other valuable items by loading them into protected online document libraries. Consumers’ papers are stored using the same secure document technology their institutions now use to deliver online statements, notices and tax documents. Some credit unions and banks offer the product through their eStatement programs; others provide it as a benefit to their online banking customers.

“My Virtual StrongBox has been a great fit for our members,” said David Araujo, Vice President of Information Systems for Digital Federal Credit Union. “Not only are they finding it useful, it is helping DCU solidify these member relationships.”

Greg Gibson, Chief Operating Officer at Northwest Federal Credit Union, agrees.

“This product stands alone in providing the lockdown security our members need for their electronic documents. It’s a great benefit.”

According to Ron Daly, DigitalMailer’s President/CEO, My Virtual StrongBox is unique from typical cloud-based storage systems because documents are stored behind multi-factor encrypted security on redundant servers.

“Customers not only can have the peace of mind that their vital papers are secure, but also that they can be easily updated and retrieved.”
