ORANGE COUNTY, CA (March 31, 2022) — Eagle Community Credit Union has donated $10,000 to the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund through the Worldwide Foundation of Credit Unions to directly support short and long-term impacts to Ukraine’s credit union system, including displaced credit union employees, members, and challenges to the country’s credit union system over the long term.
“Credit unions are about helping people helping people,” said CEO Scott Rains. “With the events unfolding in Ukraine, many people are suddenly refugees with no place to call home. This donation, along with others from the credit union movement, will assist Ukrainian credit union members and employees with much needed assistance.”
Individuals wishing to make a personal donation to the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund should text CUS4UKRAINE to 44-321 to donate. The foundation is leveraging its global network to identify immediate priority areas where funding can be used.
Credit unions have a long history of working together to support communities during disasters at home and abroad. Brought on by war, the current emergency in Ukraine is no different as it affects residents, workers and their families through hardship and isolation.
