Eagle Community Credit Union presents scholarships to three student veterans attending Irvine Valley and Saddleback Colleges

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (April 5, 2018) — Eagle Community Credit Union in Foothill Ranch, CA recently awarded scholarships to three student veterans attending Irvine Valley College (IVC) in Irvine, CA and Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA.

Andrew Ramos from Saddleback and Sloan Hadsall and Erik Grohmann from IVC each were awarded a $750 scholarship to help them with their college expenses based on both merit and need.

This is the second year the credit union has offered this scholarship. Most of the funds were donated by Eagle Community Credit Union members through a fundraising campaign that started on Veterans’ Day in 2017. The funds raised were then matched by Eagle. The credit union also received a grant from Staples to help with the rest.

Ramos plans to pursue a degree in culinary arts. Grohmann is transferring to Long Beach State this fall to study health and wellness, and Hadsall has plans to transfer to an Ivy League college to continue his studies in computer science.

“Now that the academics are a reality, the financial part comes in, which is why it so meaningful and I am grateful for scholarships like this that help provide another step in the right direction toward making my career a reality,” said Hadsall.

“We’d like to thank our team members for spreading the word about this, as well as Karla Davis and Marcus Bowman in the Business Development Department, for spearheading this program to help the student Veterans that are part of the Veterans Programs at these two great local community colleges,” said Eagle Community CU CEO Scott Rains.

Eagle’s goal is to continue to offer this scholarship each year with the generous donations from our members, with the hope to increase the amount given each year and to expand the reach to more veterans at other local community colleges.
