ECCU awards $1,000 in WMU homecoming scholarships

KALAMAZOO, MI (November 5, 2013) — Educational Community Credit Union (ECCU) was pleased to officially sponsor and present annual scholarship awards to Western Michigan University’s (WMU’s) Homecoming King and Queen during halftime ceremonies at Waldo Stadium on Saturday, October 12, 2013 in Kalamazoo. ECCU’s President and CEO Charles Cornelius presented Parnell Fleming, WMU Homecoming King and Central Collegiate Academy (formerly Detroit Central High School) alumnus (Hometown – Detroit, Michigan); and Adrina Brack, WMU Homecoming Queen and Whitney E. Young Magnet High School alumna (Hometown – Chicago, IL), each with a $500 ECCU scholarship.

“I love any opportunity to represent the WMU student body,” says Fleming. “I feel me being selected as this year’s Homecoming King is a testament to my involvement here on campus.”

“Staying true to our educational roots by honoring the accomplishments of these two outstanding WMU students with $500 ECCU scholarship awards is a great feeling,” said Cornelius. “ECCU is proud to serve WMU faculty, staff and students, and we look forward to continuing our heritage of serving not only WMU, but the greater Kalamazoo community as well.”
