Elevations AppleFest raises $4,000 for Cultiva Youth Project at local nonprofit Growing Gardens

With the help of its members and the community, Elevations Credit Union raised $4,000 at Elevations AppleFest at YA YA Farm & Orchard on Oct. 13. The funds raised will directly benefit the Cultiva Youth Project at local nonprofit Growing Gardens, which enriches the community through sustainable urban agriculture programs.

On Oct. 13, over 175 people attended Elevations AppleFest at YA YA Farm & Orchard, a daytime event with family-friendly activities like hay rides, barbeque from GreensPoint BBQ and live bluegrass by Stirrup Trouble.

“It is great to see Elevations members come through for our community,” said Dennis Paul, VP of Business and Community Development for Elevations. “We are proud to support great initiatives like the Cultiva Youth Project.”

The $4,000 raised will support the Cultiva Youth Project’s youth leadership program where teens ages 12-19 operate an urban organic farm, growing produce for the local community while developing leadership and job skills. In Boulder, the teens seed, tend and harvest produce for Growing Gardens’ Community Supported Agriculture program, which provides a weekly share of vegetables for 65 community members. In Longmont, this produce is donated to community partners that give the food to locals that are food insecure.

"We appreciate the opportunity to be part of Elevations AppleFest and thank our community showing such great support for the Cultiva Youth Project," said Vanessa Keeley, Executive Director of Growing Gardens. "The funds raised will enable Cultiva to involve more youth in leadership and sustainable agriculture training throughout Boulder County. Thank you, Elevations, for your support over the years."
