Elevations Credit Union names new Chief Technology Officer

BOULDER, CO (May 24, 2022) — Elevations Credit Union is pleased to announce Dustin Montoya as its new Chief Technology Officer. Montoya is a recognized leader in credit union technology and innovation with decades of experience hiring, coaching, and developing technical staff to build, buy, and integrate systems to meet critical business needs. Montoya was previously a member of the Elevations team when he served as Vice President of Applications Engineering from 2020-2021.

“We are thrilled that Dustin is rejoining Elevations Credit Union and firmly believe that he’s the best executive to lead our technology team and strategy,” said Gerry Agnes, CEO of Elevations Credit Union. “Dustin has a proven track record of attracting and elevating talent, while also fulfilling organizations’ technology strategies. We look forward to working with Dustin and learning from him as we continue to provide an empowering banking experience for our members.”

Prior to joining Elevations Credit Union, Montoya was the Vice President of Platform, Infrastructure, and Engineering at Arturo.ai. He also spent many years as the Director of Software Engineering, DevOps, Automation, and Quality Assurance at Open Technology Solutions. There, he was instrumental in the evaluation, selection, implementation, and operations of a digital banking platform that currently supports one million members with over $20 billion in assets for Bellco Credit Union, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, and State Employees’ Credit Union of Maryland.

“I am ecstatic to return to Elevations to work with such a purpose-driven organization serving Colorado communities” said Montoya.  “It is Elevations’ focus on people and also their dedication to operational excellence through the Baldrige Framework that drew me back.  In partnership with the other leaders at Elevations, I look forward to improving service to our staff and members through advancements in the credit union’s technology platform.”

In 2018, Montoya won the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Technology Council’s Excellence in Technology award. He also contributed as a technical committee member with Coastal Federal Credit Union, which led to the Constellation digital banking platform now used by several credit unions. Montoya participated in the Credit Union Financial Exchange (CUFX) effort that became an open standard protocol of exchanging financial data across platforms.

Outside of work, Montoya is a volunteer in his community, supporting fund raising events and coaching youth soccer, basketball, flag football, and chess.
