With the next federal budget deadline of February 8 looming, thousands of affected Hoosiers may be nervous about whether their next paycheck will come on time. Understanding that even if the government stops life must go on, Financial Center First Credit Union is offering no- or low-interest, short-term loans to government employees and military whose payroll would be affected by a shutdown.
The Credit Union, also known for its outstanding financial literacy program, is also offering individual credit counseling to help people begin building an emergency savings for situations such as this.
While loan applications are being taken now, disbursements will only be made in the event of a shutdown. For more details or to apply, visit www.fcfcu.com/shutdown, by calling 317.916.7700 option 4, or at any Indianapolis-area Financial Center location.
Credit counseling is available at any time and is coordinated through James Davidson, Financial Center’s Director of Financial Literacy – jdavidson@fcfcu.com.
