First Capital employees explore York for Employee Enrichment Day!

First Capital Federal Credit Union staff spent Columbus Day being tourists in our own town.

“First Capital may be closed on Columbus Day, but our employees are still busy,” said Tara Houser, VP of Marketing.  “We use Columbus Day each year for enrichment whether that’s training, team building, or helping out our Select Employee Groups and other businesses in our community.”

For this year’s Employee Enrichment Day (aka Columbus Day), First Capital staff started off the day by hopping on two Bailey Coaches and heading downtown.  Half of the group visited the Sunrise Soap Company to see how soap is made while the other half visited York City Pretzel to learn about the origins of the pretzel and how they are made.  We got back on the bus and headed to Fox 43 for a tour of the television station.  After the tour we visited Rocky Ridge County Park where we heard from Mike Fobes, Manager of Natural Resources for the York County Department of Parks & Recreation, about the 50th Anniversary of the park system and enjoyed a lunch from Brown’s Orchards and Farm Markets.  After lunch, we were off to the Haines Shoe House.  Although we didn’t get a tour of the house, we learned about the original owners and enjoyed some Beck’s ice cream.  Our last stop was at Image 360. There they showed us their printing operation and installed a window cling to the First Capital vehicle.  We ended the day back at First Capital with our bellies full and some new insight into a few of our business partners.
