First Financial recognized for $10,000 donation to Carroll County Food Sunday
LUTHERVILLE, MD (September 10, 2020) — First Financial Federal Credit Union was recognized by Carroll County Food Sunday for their impact on lives in the local community through volunteerism and charitable giving. The organization – who selflessly delivers food to hundreds of Carroll County families experiencing hunger each week – presented First Financial with a Partnership Plaque in appreciation for a recent $10,000 donation.
“Food insecurity for many Carroll County residents has grown since mid-March as individuals and families experience the hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Carroll County Food Sunday Executive Director Ed Leister. “The generous donation from First Financial Federal Credit Union will help us continue to provide supplemental and emergency food to those in need. Their donation was very timely as all Carroll County Food Sunday fundraising events had to be canceled this year.”
The $10,000 donation was part of a larger effort by the credit union to provide COVID-19 relief in the greater Baltimore area. Since the beginning of the pandemic, First Financial donated more than $102,000 to various organizations, including Carroll County Food Sunday and the Maryland Food Bank, and provided meals and gift cards to essential workers.
