First Harvest Credit Union shreds 1.58 tons of paper during second annual free Community Shredder Event

Over 150 Community Members Securely Dispose Documents at Credit Union’s Deptford Location

Deptford, NJ (September 23, 2025) |

First Harvest Credit Union (“First Harvest”) recently  hosted its second annual free Community Shredder Event at its Deptford Corporate  Center to offer a secure method for disposing of documents. Approximately 150  community members attended the event, shredding a combined total of over 1.58 tons of  paper. This event helped to keep roughly 3,500 pounds of paper waste out of local  landfills.

First Harvest is hosting various give-back programs this year to reinvest in the Southern  New Jersey community as a part of its 85 Acts of Kindness initiative to celebrate its 85th anniversary. In addition to the shredder event, other acts of kindness include appreciation  events for South Jersey healthcare workers, teachers, and first responders; volunteer tree  planting events in Camden County; and the Pink Ribbon Program to support breast cancer  awareness efforts.

First Harvest also aims to encourage member-safety by offering free financial tools and  resources on additional ways to keep private information and personal finances safe and secure. Online resources include blogs like What Do I Do as a Victim of Identity Theft and How to Protect Yourself from Financial Scams, educational content shared on its social  media pages, and free online programs through MoneyEDU.

“Our credit union continues to deliver on our commitment to giving back to our  membership and the Southern New Jersey community in ways beyond our financial  product and service offerings,” stated First Harvest President & CEO, Mike Dinneen.  “During our 85th anniversary year, our 85 Acts of Kindness initiative has given us  opportunities to engage our members, reinvest in our community, and help fortify First Harvest’s efforts of being South Jersey’s premiere trusted financial partner.”

Over a dozen First Harvest volunteers helped more than 150 community members dispose of 1.58  tons of paper documents during second annual Community Shredder Event.
