First New York Federal Credit Union collected over 5,000 rolls of toilet paper this holiday season
ALBANY, NY (December 14, 2018) — First New York Federal Credit Union lives by the philosophy of “People Helping People” and is committed to serving our members and our community.
Capital Region residents who receive Food Stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs) are not permitted to purchase personal hygiene products; no deodorant, no soap, no shampoo, no laundry detergent, no razors and not even toilet paper can be purchased with their benefits.
In an effort to assist them, First New York has collected 5,292 rolls of toilet paper and 2,280 rolls of paper towels from all branches and their company headquarters. First New York’s goal was to collect toilet paper and paper towels to share with Catholic Charities Tri-County Services, an agency made up of programs that assist the needy with the basic necessities of life.
