Five incoming freshman at San Diego State University (SDSU) recently received a dorm room makeover plus a school supply scholarship, thanks to North Island Credit Union.
The five freshmen were winners of North Island Credit Union’s Dorm Room Makeover program, offered to incoming SDSU freshman living in on-campus housing. Any SDSU freshman living on campus could enter the program. North Island Credit Union selected five recipients from the applicants, providing each with $500 to Bed Bath & Beyond® for a dorm room makeover plus a $500 SDSU bookstore gift card to use towards books and school supplies. The awards were given during a special shopping spree trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond® on October 13, 2018.
The Dorm Room Makeover program is another way North Island Credit Union is supporting local students in the San Diego community. This program compliments the credit union’s annual College Scholarship, which has awarded more than $285,000 in scholarships to California students.

Joshua Rehhaut, North Island Credit Union School & Community Development Officer, awards SDSU freshmen Jaxon Morgan, Deniz Kesim, Aubrey Benito, and Ashley Sevilla a $500 shopping spree at Bed Bath & Beyond® for a dorm room makeover plus a $500 SDSU bookstore gift card.
