FORUM Credit Union receives Social Responsibility Community Service Award
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (October 10, 2013) — FORUM Credit Union is honored to be a recipient of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award. The award was established to encourage credit union involvement in community projects and activities. FORUM received the award for its fundraising efforts for Agapé Therapeutic Riding Resources, Inc.
Agapé was founded in 1986 and developed a summer riding program for children with disabilities using the therapeutic value of horses to rehabilitate. Due to success, it became a full-time, year round program serving individuals and schools throughout central Indiana.
FORUM raised approximately $20,000 in its fundraising efforts for the organization during 2012. Funds were raised through various activities including $5 jeans days, an Italian dinner family event, a golf outing, a 3 week employee auction, and more. These efforts contributed to the purchase of a new computer system, a utility vehicle, repairs to a tractor, and reinforcements to horse shelters. FORUM also had a day of service at the grounds and sponsored a horse which helped cover its vet care, food, and tack.
The award, which was announced during the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual convention, is named after Dora Maxwell , a credit union pioneer, who worked with numerous organizations to improve the living standards of the poor and needy. Credit unions compete with others in their asset category for the award. FORUM’s first place win will be submitted to a national competition.
