The purpose of Holiday Extravaganza is to bring Oakland County cities and townships together to share in the celebration of the holiday season. This year, Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Waterford Township and White Lake Township worked together to host the 31st Annual Holiday Extravaganza festivities.

“Holiday Extravaganza is one of the many wonderful events that Genisys sponsors in Oakland County throughout the year,” said Jackie Buchanan, President & CEO. “It’s a great way for families to celebrate all that the season has to offer.”

The parade started at 11:00 a.m. and was the largest yet with over 100 entries, nearly 150 costume characters, around 300 volunteers and over 15,000 people in attendance.

The Family Fun Festival, which included two galleries of ice, horse drawn wagon rides, two petting farms, free face painting, free hot cocoa, Santa’s live reindeer, the Children’s WinterArt Center and much more, introduced a Children’s Scavenger Hunt, sponsored by The Pontiac Downtown Business Association. The hunt started within the Children’s WinterArt Center and ended at the new Lafayette Market, located at 154 North Saginaw Street. Directly following the parade, spectators were able to enjoy light refreshments, create small craft projects, and have their photo taken with Santa.  If you were able to attend the festivities that took place before or after the parade, you may submit those photos for the contest as well.

Genisys Credit Union and Michigan Works of Oakland County were pleased to be the presenting sponsors again this year and would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Holiday Extravaganza possible.
