Georgetown Kraft Credit Union Top Fundraiser for March of Dimes

GEORGETOWN, SC – On Saturday, April 20, area residents, families and business employees joined together at East Bay Park in Georgetown to trek the three mile walk for the Georgetown County March of Dimes. Among them were the members of GKCU gathered at the front of the line as the county’s top team for fundraising.

“GKCU has always been a strong supporter of the March of Dimes and their efforts to fight birth defects among newborn children,” states Nikki Ewing, GKCU Marketing Director. “Our members and our staff have been dedicated to raising awareness and donations to help this very worthy cause for over 30 years.”

Recognized at the walk, GKCU received the honor as the top fundraiser in Georgetown County, raising over $11,450. Donations were raised through a variety of fundraisers and corporate sponsorships including our March of Dimes beauty pageant, bake / hot dog sales, memorial placards, loose change, candy sales and raffles. GKCU was recognized as the top fundraiser with sponsorship ($2500) and GKCU employees Kara Nesbitt (Loan Recovery Assistant) received the top individual fundraiser (over $5,000) and Wanda Holt (Asst. Branch Manager Georgetown), Sherry Sutton (Head Teller, Georgetown) and Lucille Rowe (retired) in the Champions’ Circle (over $1,000).

“Our employees take a personal involvement with our fundraising efforts with March of Dimes,” states Ewing. “This year our team did some amazing fundraisers that were greatly supported by our members, staff and community partners. From raffles to food sales to our annual beauty pageant that raised over $3,500, our members stepped up and helped us give back. Our staff remains committed to the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ by motivating our employees and members to help with local charities and events like the March of Dimes.”
