Global Credit Union partners with Tatitlek Community School from Chugach School District in Alaska to put on a field trip for students

SPOKANE, WA (May 19, 2022) — On May 24, the students of Tatitlek Community School in Alaska will be visiting Global Credit Union to learn about financial literacy and career development. Tatitlek School will visit Spokane with 24 people in attendance including students, staff and parent chaperones. During their visit, Global Credit Union Department Managers and Vice Presidents will talk about careers in finance for older students while younger students will learn about the save, spend, share philosophy.

The Tatitlek community of Alaska sits tucked at the base of Ellemar Mountain in Prince William Sound with approximately 90 residents. Global Credit Union is honored to host the students from this community and teach them about potential careers and financial literacy. This unique opportunity for Global Credit Union to connect with a town in rural Alaska foreshadows exciting times to come as the pending merge with Alaska USA Federal Credit Union draws near.

“These field trips leave an everlasting impact on our graduates when they leave us and give them the chance to see things they may not get to see otherwise,” said Tatitlek Principal Dr. Jed Palmer. “Visiting Global Credit Union will allow them to focus on the Career Development content area in their report card. We like to try to touch on standards that are more difficult to do in the village. Instead of using the internet or watching videos, they will be able to visit a real-life credit union and see about the different career opportunities that exist in the financial services industry.”

Global Credit Union is honored to be the host for this exciting opportunity to have the Alaska community meet the Spokane community.
