Great Lakes Credit Union to award eight students with $2,500 scholarships

BANNOCKBURN, IL (May 31, 2022) — WHO:                    Great Lakes Credit Union staff and executive team; students ages 17-30 from several counties across the Chicagoland area including Kenosha, Wisconsin and other community partners.

WHAT:                  As part of its robust community giveback efforts, GLCU will award eight students across the Chicagoland and southern Wisconsin area with $2,500 scholarships to help pay for educational expenses at an accredited technical school, trade school, or a four-year college or university. Scholarship winners, ranging from high school to adult undergraduate education levels, will be announced and honored at a brunch reception held at GLCU’s headquarters.

WHEN:                 10:30 a.m. – noon. Thursday, June 2, 2022

WHY:                    Great Lakes Credit Union has been recognized on a national level across the credit union industry for its teams’ volunteerism, grants, scholarships, free HUD-certified housing and financial counseling, and other community programs; most recently being honored with the Community Involvement Gem award in April 2022 and earning CUES’ first-ever 2021 DEI Catalyst for Change Award. GLCU is pleased to add the scholarship program to one of its many active community giveback initiatives.
