Greater TEXAS FCU awards B.E.S.T. College Night Scholarships to Local area high school students

BASTROP, TX (May 18, 2015) — Graduating Seniors from Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Elgin and Smithville High School were awarded their 2014 B.E.S.T. Scholarship checks from Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union (GTFCU) on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at their respective high school.

The scholarship recipients received $500 each to go towards furthering their education and their college tuition. The winning students were Chelsea Perry, Bastrop High School; Caitlyn Oppermann, Cedar Creek High School; William Cox, Elgin High School; and Kyle Schmidt, Smithville High School.

Bastrop, Cedar Creek, Elgin and Smithville Seniors submitted applications at last year’s 2014 B.E.S.T. (Bastrop, Elgin, Smithville, Texas) College Night, underwritten and sponsored by GTFCU and held in Bastrop, Texas. The scholarship winners were chosen through a panel of judges and credit union representatives.

The 2015 B.E.S.T. College Night date has been set for Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Bastrop High School Cafeteria.

This is just one of many ways that Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union has become an active part in the B.E.S.T. community by supporting students and partnering in the furthering of their education and their future.
