Hanscom FCU celebrates Air Force Leadership Training Graduation

HANSCOM AFB, MA (July 8, 2019) — Senior Airmen from area military bases graduated from Hanscom Air Force Base’s Airman Leadership School (ALS) at a ceremony held at the Minuteman Commons on base June 28 th . Hanscom Federal Credit Union sponsored the graduation ceremony as it has done in the past.

The five-week ALS is the first professional military education that enlisted Air Force personnel encounter in their careers. The school prepares them for supervisory roles by strengthening their ability to lead, follow, and manage while helping them gain a broader understanding of their profession.

The John L. Levitow Award, the highest honor granted in the ALS, was given to SrA Zachary Lopez, 2 nd Weather Squadron, Sagamore Hills, MA. This award goes to the student who achieves the highest overall standing from a combination of academic scores, performance evaluation, and leadership qualities, the highest honor awarded to an enlisted professional military education student.

“We’re proud of this class of enlisted women and men serving our nation,” said Paul J. Marotta, Hanscom FCU’s Chairman Emeritus, “and our credit union is happy to witness their first steps toward supervisory roles within the military.”
