Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union Hosts 9th Annual Golf Tournament for Charity

On Friday, March 15th, Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union hosted their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Legend Oaks Golf Club in Summerville to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event raises community awareness and helps fund better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer.

Over 60 players joined local businesses and industry leaders to show their support through personal donations and corporate sponsorships. “Heritage Trust has been a longtime supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life event. The Annual Charity Golf Tournament is our way of raising funds to help combat this terrible disease that has impacted so many lives.” Commented Heritage Trust CEO, Jim McDaniel. “I am proud and thankful for all of the sponsors who eagerly answered our call for action this year. At Heritage Trust, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities we serve and are looking forward to next year’s golf outing and the opportunity to do more in the fight against cancer.”

Cancer touches everyone in some way. Today, one out of every two patients diagnosed with cancer survives.* Chuck Hiers, Heritage Trust Strategic Reporting & Business Analyst commented, “I participate in this tournament every year because I have had several members of my family affected by cancer in different ways. This is one way I can help support cancer research as well as remember the loved ones I’ve lost to this disease.”

Funds raised at the tournament, as well as through other fundraising efforts held throughout the year, will be donated to the American Cancer Society at their signature event, the Relay For Life, on April 12th. Relay for Life is a yearly celebration that raises money and public awareness in the fight against cancer.
