Holiday Extravaganza seeking Nomination Entries for Honorary Junior Grand Marshals

AUBURN HILLS, MI (September 12, 2013) –– Teens do great things every day. From working hard in school and participating in community events to volunteering at church and mentoring younger students, they often give their heart and soul to various projects, but may receive little or no recognition for their efforts.

That can change today as parents, teachers, community group leaders and others are invited to nominate a deserving high school student to be recognized as a community Honorary Junior Grand Marshal. Each Honorary Junior Grand Marshal will ride on a professionally-created float during the Holiday Extravaganza Parade Dec. 7 and will join in the official ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the parade. Winners will also be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship and receive a $100 VISA card courtesy of sponsor Genisys Credit Union.

There will be four winners selected by the supervisor or mayor in Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Waterford and White Lake. These are the four communities who are presenting sponsors of the Holiday Extravaganza, which features a grand parade, children’s activities and fun for the whole family.

Winners will be selected based on their efforts to make a difference in their local communities by giving back to others. Nominees must be residents of Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Waterford and White Lake and nominations should include details about the student’s service in 250 words or less. Entries can be emailed to publicrelations@genisyscu.org or mailed to: Holiday Extravaganza – Greater Pontiac Host Committee, P.O. Box 432224, Pontiac, MI 48342.  Nominations are due by Oct. 20.
