Hope Credit Union Leverages Mobile Deposit from Bluepoint Solutions to Reach Underbanked
$169 million CU bolsters efforts to bring financial services to economically distressed areas
HENDERSON, NV (August 7, 2013) — Bluepoint Solutions today announced Jackson, Miss.-based Hope Credit Union (HOPE) has implemented its mobile remote deposit capture (RDC) solution QwikDeposit ToGo as part of the credit union’s mobile banking app powered by Malauzai Software.
With 15 branches and 28,000 members, HOPE launched mobile RDC in Dec. 2012 in order to further the credit union’s mission of bringing traditional financial services to economically distressed areas in the Mid South as well as rural areas without convenient access to a branch. HOPE has used Bluepoint’s ImagePoint Branch capture product since 2011, and decided to add QwikDeposit ToGo mobile deposit to bring additional value to its members and use it as part of its campaign to add new members. The credit union added Malauzai’s mobile banking platform to better integrate Bluepoint’s QwikDeposit ToGo and create a cohesive mobile banking app with integrated mobile deposit.
“Mobile deposit is an important feature that helps us reach our members in financially afflicted areas and helps bring new members into the financial system who are currently using alternative financial services such as payday lenders,” said Bill Bynum, CEO of HOPE. “The ability to give low- and moderate-income members a way to deposit a check right from their phone is an essential step in our mission to bring banking to the underbanked. In just four months, we have been able to register nearly 1,300 new users, compared with the mere 800 members who used our previous app during its three years of existence.”
